Former Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, head of the Department of Security Studies at the CEVRO Institute, guarantor of the MPA program - Security and Crisis Management, member of the Czech Euro-Atlantic Council,

His specialization is security, crisis management, reforms of the Czech Armed Forces, critical state infrastructure protection, energy security and other related areas.

Before 1989 he graduated from the Land Forces College and postgraduate studies at the Military Academy Brno.

From 1975 to 1992, he performed in the army a number of command functions in tank units.

In 1993/94 he studied at the United States Army War College (Pennsylvania). The study included a specialized program to combat terrorism.

In 1995/96, he was Commander of the First ACR Contingent in the IFOR Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

From 1996 to the end of 2002, he held command and staff positions in the ACR top management, he ended his military career as Chief of the General staff of the Czech Armed Forces (1998-2002)

In 2003, he founded the consulting company Generals, s.r.o., which deals with consulting in the field of security and project management.

From 2011 to the present, he has been a teacher at the CEVRO Institute.

Since January 2022 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of Charles University in Prague.
